You’ll also find an experienced team committed to educating kids on how to take care of their teeth. Working together with you, Dr. Dave can help your son or daughter build healthy habits that will last well their teenage years and beyond. Our pediatric dentistry services include:
Children’s Teeth Cleaning
Adults aren’t the only ones who need help keeping their teeth clean. Oral health conditions like gum disease and tooth decay effect patients of all ages. Through regular cleanings, our Westminster team can keep your little one’s teeth strong so they can enjoy the important fruits and veggies they need to grow healthy bodies.
Fluoride Treatments
The body needs important nutrients to stay healthy, and so do teeth. To have teeth strong enough to stand up against decay, you need fluoride, a mineral that helps strengthen tooth enamel. Some young patients may not be getting enough fluoride, though. That’s why pediatric dentist Dr. Dave provides fluoride treatments at his Westminster dental office. Rinsing with fluoride in our office, and at home between visits, can help your child build stronger teeth. What’s more, by drinking tap water, which contains fluoride, instead of bottled water, children can gain an even bigger advantage over decay.
Digital X-Rays
Dentists look at smiles in two ways. The first is by looking at one with nothing but a bright light and their eyes. The second way is by looking at X-rays. With an X-ray, Dr. Dave can get a clearer picture of how your child’s teeth are doing. And to ensure your child’s safety with the X-ray process, we’ve taken two pre-cautions. First, we use only digital X-rays, which emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional radiography. Second, we follow all X-ray guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. That way, your child receives the kind of safe but thorough care he or she needs for a healthier smile.
Dental Sealants
Like fluoride supplements, dental sealants can give your son or daughter extra protection from cavities. But while fluoride supplements come in the form of a mouth rinse, dental sealants are applied directly to teeth and hardened with a curing light. The entire procedure is safe and effective, giving hard-to-reach areas, like the molars, effective protection from food particles and bacteria for as long as 10 years.
Dental Fillings for Baby Teeth
If your child has a cavity, you might be wondering why fillings are necessary if baby teeth are only temporary. One reason is that it takes time for permanent teeth to come in. If your child loses a baby tooth too soon, crowding or another issue might arise. Plus, cavities just aren’t comfortable. They can cause toothaches and even infection, which would require more extensive work later. Dr. Dave can help your little one prevent both with a simple filling at his Westminster dental office.
